Downloading, Installation and Registration

System Requirements

Alarms requires Palm OS 4.0 or later. A color Palm OS5/ARM-based device is recommended.

Downloading

Alarms program is distributed in archive zip format. After the download, you should unpack the archive file into any temporary folder. You may use the freeware WinZip program for it.

Installation

To have Alarms in your Palm-organizer you should install Alarms.prc file. Double-click on Alarms.prc to launch the Palm Install Tool. Inside this box, you will see a white area, which should contain the name of the file you wish to install. Click the Done button and HotSync your Palm. HotSync will now copy the software across and installation is complete.

ATTENTION! The Install Tool error message:” Unable to install… File does not exist.” appears when path name is too long or the zip was not unpacked to a folder. In this case, please unpack the zip to the root C:\ folder and reinstall from this folder.

Registration

You can freely use the full functional trial version of Alarms during 7 days. Then you will have to purchase the program or to remove it from your Palm-organizer.

Once the trial period ends you must purchase and enter a registration code to continue using the software. You do not need to re-install the software. Simply enter a registration code and your Trial version will be converted into a Registered version.

  • Select Options -> Registration item from the Alarms menu
  • Carefully enter the Registration Code
  • Tap Register button when done

Creating a New Alarm

Start Alarms. You will see the main screen of the program - alarms list. After the first launch it will be empty.

Empty Alarms List

In order to add new alarm Tap New... button. You will see New Alarm window.

New Alarm

Title - the title of alarm. Tap arrow at the right of title field for using predefined quick titles. You may also add your own quick titles.

Date - the date when alarm will be activated in the first time. In order to change tap the date entry box.

Time - the time when alarm will be activated in the first time. In order to change tap the time entry box.

Repeat - repeat options. In order to change tap the entry box. See chapter Repeat Options for more information.

Sound - sound preferences. In order to change tap the entry box. See chapter Sound Preferences for more information.

In order to change repeat options tap Repeat pick list.

Repeat None

In this case alarm will ring once. If Remove after alert checkbox is selected, this alarm will be deleted from alarms list after actuation.

Repeat Hourly

In this case alarm will ring every 1, 2, 3... etc. hours depend on number entered in Every field.
End on - after this date alarm will never ring. If selected No End Date - alarm will ring endlessly.
On - alarm will ring only on selected days of week.
From, To - alarm will ring only if time will be berween From and To bounds.

In this case alarm will ring every 1, 2, 3... etc. days depend on number entered in Every field.
End on - after this date alarm will never ring. If selected No End Date - alarm will ring endlessly.

Repeat Weekly

In this case alarm will ring every 1, 2, 3... etc. weeks depend on number entered in Every field.
End on - after this date alarm will never ring. If selected No End Date - alarm will ring endlessly.
On - alarm will ring only on selected days of week.

Repeat Monthly

In this case alarm will ring every 1, 2, 3... etc. months depend on number entered in Every field.
End on - after this date alarm will never ring. If selected No End Date - alarm will ring endlessly.
Repeat by - if selected Date alarm will ring on the 1st day of month. If selected Day alarm will ring on selected day of week, for example "every first Tuesday of every second month".

In this case alarm will ring every 1, 2, 3... etc. years depend on number entered in Every field.
End on - after this date alarm will never ring. If selected No End Date - alarm will ring endlessly.

Sound Options

Repeat Yearly

Volume - the volume of alarm sound. In order to change tap corresponding pick list.

Special Effects - special effects like vibrate or led, depend on your handeld features. In order to change tap corresponding pick list.

Sound - the sound of alarm. May be MIDI Tone, Ring Tone, or MP3/WAV file. In order to change tap corresponding pick list.

Reminder Sound - the sound of alarm for Repeat Alert preference.

Play Sound - this preference is useful for short sonuds. Sound will play as many times as setted in this preference.

Repeat Alert - if you didn't react on ringing alarm (i.e didn't tap Clear or Go To buttons), alarm will repeat as many time, as setted in this preference.

Alarms List

You may choose desired view of Alarms List using two pick lists in the top part of Alarms List window.

If the checkbox at the left of alarm's name is unchecked, this alarm is switched off and will never ring.

In order to edit alarm tap on alarm's title an alarms list, or highlite desired alarm using 5-way navigator and tap Edit... button.

In order to delete alarm tap on alarm's title an alarms list, then tap Delete button in Edit Alarm window, or highlite desired alarm using 5-way navigator and tap Delete... button.

Chime

Chime is a cyclic alarm, repeating in equal period of time.

Every - desired period of time

From, To - chime will ring only if time is between From and To time bounds.

Days - chime will ring only on selected days of week.
