Quick User's Manual



Downloading the Program
PalmaryClock program is distributed in archive zip format. After the download, you should unpack the archive file into any temporary folder. You may use the freeware WinZip programfor it.

Installation
To have PalmaryClock in your Palm-organizer you should install PClock_PalmOS4.prc for Palm OS 4.x or PClock_PalmOS5.prc for Palm OS 5.0 or higher. Double-click on PClock_PalmOSx.prc. to launch the Palm Install Tool. Inside this box, you will see a white area, which should contain the name of the file you wish to install. Click the Done button and HotSync your Palm. HotSync will now copy the software across and installation is complete.
You may optionally install the free skins from PalmaryClock\Skins and backgrounds from PalmaryClock\Backgrounds folder using the same steps as above.
You may optionally install the additional HiRes World Maps from PalmaryClock\Maps folder using the same steps as above.

ATTENTION! The Install Tool error message:” Unable to install… File does not exist.” appears when path name is too long or the zip was not unpacked to a folder. In this case, please unpack the zip to the root C:\ folder and reinstall from this folder.

Note: If there is no built-in audio player a third-party audio player (e.g. Pocket Tunes) must be installed on Your device to play MP3/WAV/OGG/WMA files!

Elements of the Interface
Entry box - Tap box to open dialog box or enter data directly in the box.
Pick list - Tap the arrow to display a list of choices, and then tap an item in the list to select it.
Check box - Tap a check box to select or deselect it. When a check box contains a check mark, the corresponding option is selected and active. When a check box is empty, the corresponding option is deselected and inactive.
Thumbnail - Shows the current skin or background. Tap it to select another one. Also displays all the changes while customizing the skin or background.

Using menus
To open the Menu bar:

1. Launch PalmaryClock.
2. Tap the Menu iconmenu icon on the status bar or in the input area or tap the upper-left corner of the screen or the inverted title area at the top of the screen.

Trial Period
You can freely use the full functional trial version of PalmaryClock during 7 days. Then you will have to purchase the program or to remove it from your Palm-organizer.

Registration Code
Once the trial period ends you must purchase and enter a registration code to continue using the software. You do not need to re-install the software. Simply enter a registration code and your Trial version will be converted into a Registered version.

1. Select Options -> Registration item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Carefully enter the Registration Code.
3. Tap Register when done.

System requirements
PalmaryClock requires Palm OS 4.0 or later. A color Palm OS5/ARM-based device is recommended.

Clock
1. Select Main -> Clock item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Tap the Events bar to edit an alarm or timer.
3. Tap the Alarm sign to switch all alarms and timers on or off.
4. Tap the Gear sign to open the Quick Menu.
5. Press Up or Down on the navigator to change the backgrounds.
6. Press Right or Left on the navigator to change skins.
7. Press Center on the navigator to highlight a sign or a bar you want to use.

How to Change Skins
1. Select Skin -> Choose Skin item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Select the desired skin location (handheld, extermal card) from the pick list.
3. Tap the field with the name of the desired skin. Press Done.
     3.1. To Delete, Copy or Move the skin highlight the desired skin's name and press
    Details.

How to Move a Skin
It is possible to change skin's screen position in 2 ways:

a) 1. Select Skin -> Move Skin item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the
    program is running in the Clock Mode).
     2. Drag and drop the skin with the stylus or use 5-way navigation.
     3. Tap Move Skin again to quit this mode.

b) 1. Select Skin -> Skin Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that
    the program is running in the Clock Mode).
     2. Select Alignment from the pick list.
     3. Tap the push buttons Top, Center, Bottom or Custom to select alignment.
     4. If you select Custom alignment, you may use Predefined position (alignment is defined by skin itself), some variants of Horizontal and Vertical alignment or enter the desired position of the left corner of the skin manually.

How to Change Colors
You may set a solid color for background without a background image, for skin elements: clock face, hands...

Note: Some skins do not support color changing. The attempts to change color will have no effect.

1. Select Skin -> Skin Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Select Components from the pick list to change colors of the avaliable clock components (face, hands, digits...)
    a) Highlight Images to set Color of the analog clock's face and all additional images.
    b) Highlight Hands to set Color of the analog clock's hands.
    c) Highlight Digital Time to set Color of the time digits of a digital clock.
    d) Highlight Date to set Color of the date digits or letters of a digital clock or an
    analog clock.
    e) Highlight Alarms to set Color of alarm digits or letters of a digital clock and the
    alarm hand of an analog clock.
3. Tap the entry box Color to change the color.
4. Select Palette or RGB from the pick list to open the pick Color dialog box.

How to Change Opacity or Hide an Element of the Skin
You can change opacity of the skin elements, if the skin contains this ability, otherwise the changes will have no effect. To hide an element simply make it transparent.

1. Select Skin -> Skin Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Select Components from the pick list to change opacity of the avaliable clock components (face, hands, digits...).
    a) Highlight Images to set Opacity of the analog clock's face and all additional images.
    b) Highlight Hands to set Opacity of the analog clock's hands.
    c) Highlight Digital Time to set Opacity of the time digits of a digital clock.
    d) Highlight Date to set Opacity of the date digits or letters of a digital clock or an
    analog clock.
    e) Highlight Alarms to set Opacity of alarm digits or letters of a digital clock and the
   alarm hand of an analog clock.
3. Select the desired Opacity level from the pick list Opacity.

Note: Max Opacity means maximum visibility and vice versa. Set Opacity to None to hide an element.

How to Change Background
1. Select Skin -> Skin Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Select Background from the pick list.
3. Tap the background thumbnail.
     3.1. See Chapter How to Turn Slideshow on/off step#3 for more info about
    Slideshow mode.
4. Tap the field with the name of the desired picture. Press Done.
     4.1. To Delete, Copy or Move the skin highlight its name and press Details.

How to Customize Background
1. Select Skin -> Skin Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Select Background from the pick list.
3. Tap the entry box Color to change the background solid color.(The changes will have effect if there is no background image).
4. Use the pick list Zoom to change the way of background displaying:
    a) Select Fill Screen to resize the picture to the whole screen. (if the picture is off-
    dimension some invisible areas may occur).
    b) Select Fit Screen to resize the picture to be entirely visible. (if the picture is off-
    dimension some white strips along the smaller edges may occur).
5. Adjust the Fade setting so that the text is easy to read against the photo.
6. Tap a check box Autorotate Picture to enable Portrait/Landscape mode support.
7. Tap a check box Cache Picture to enable image caching mode. This function accelerates the picture loading at program start but uses additional memory.

How to Customize a Skin with a Calendar

1. Select Skin -> Skin Preferences  item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Select Calendar from the pick list.(Be sure that the skin contains calendar otherwise this menu item will be inaccessible).
3. The thumbnail shows the changes you have made.
4. Select the desired Opacity level from the pick lists Font Opacity and Back Opacity.
5. Tap a check box Show Appointments to display a special mark next to the date.
6. Tap the entry box Calendar Application to set a calendar application to be started while tapping an appointment. You may choose the Palm OS calendar or any of the third-party calendar applications.

Note: Max Opacity means maximum visibility and vice versa. Set Opacity to None to hide an element.

How to Customize Events Bar
1. Select Skin -> Skin Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Select Events Bar from the pick list.
3. Empty a check box Show Events Bar to hide the bar with alarms control icon.
4. Empty a check box Show to hide only the bar (the alarms control icon remains visible).
5. Empty a check box Gradient to fill the bar with solid color.
6. Tap the entry box Note to change the color of the font.
7. Tap the entry box Bar to change the color of the bar field.
    7.1. See Chapter How to Change Colors step#4 for more info about color changing.
8. Select the desired Opacity level from the pick list Opacity. Set Opacity to None to make the bar invisible.
9. The thumbnail shows the changes you have made.
10. Select the desired Location from the pick list.

Default settings for a Skin
All the settings you have changed are effective only for the particular skin but if you want to assign these settings to all skins simply tap Set As Defaults and choose the desired group of the skin settings from the pick list.

How to Turn Slideshow on/off
1. Select Skin -> Choose Skin item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Tap a check box Slideshow then tap check boxes next to the desired skins.
     2.1. You may select the desired location (handheld/external memory card) of the
     skins from the pick list.
     2.2. Tap All to select all skins.
3. Tap Random Order to switch on random selection of the skins for the slideshow.

Slideshow Delay
1. Select Skin -> Slide Show Prefs item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Clock Mode).
2. Select the desired time delay from the pick list.

How to Set Time
PalmaryClock uses system time settings.

1. Select Options -> Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Tap Application then Set Time to open DATE & TIME Preferences dialog box of your OS.

Calendar
1. Select Main -> Calendar item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Press Up or Down on the navigator to change the backgrounds.
3. It is possible to change months in 2 ways:
    a) Press Right or Left on the navigator to change months.
    b) Select the desired month from pick list.
4. Select the desired year from the pick list.
5. Press Center on the navigator to highlight a sign, a field or a pick list you want to use.
6. The dates with the appointments are marked with a dot. Tap the marked date and then tap the desired appointment to open it with chosen application. See Chapter Specificity of Calendar Settings for more info.
7. Tap Today to return to the current date.

How to Move a Calendar
It is possible to change calendar's screen position in 2 ways:

a) 1. Select Calendar -> Move Calendar item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Calendar Mode).
    2. Drag and drop it with the stylus or use 5- way navigation.
    3. Toggle Move Calendar again to quit this mode.

b) 1. Select Calendar -> Calendar Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the Calendar Mode).
    2. Select Alignment from the dropdown menu.
    3. You may select Top, Center, Bottom or Custom alignment.
    4. If you select Custom alignment, you may use Predefined position (alignment is
   defined by skin itself), some variants of Horizontal and Vertical alignment or enter the
   desired position of the left corner of the skin manually.

Specificity of Calendar Settings
The Calendar Settings are similar to the Skin with a Calendar settings. See Chapter How to Customize a Skin with a Calendar for more info.

Note: Be sure that the program is running in the Calendar Mode.

Alarms
1. Select Main -> Alarms item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Tap New... to create a new alarm.
3. Tap Edit... to modify the highlighted one.
    3.1. Tap Date and Time entry boxes to open Choose Date or Choose Time dialog boxes.
    3.2. Tap Repeat to select from pick list how often the event repeats. Use the corresponding pick lists and dialog
            boxes to fix the intervals for repeats.
    3.3. Use the entry box Sound to customize sound settings of the current alarm. See Chapter Predefied Sound Settings for more info.
    3.4. Tap the entry box Launch to set an action to be started.
         3.4.1. Select the desired action from the pick list Launch. Several variants are possible: None, Timer, Application.
         3.4.2. Use a check box Don't Show Alert to switch the Reminder Screen on/off.
             3.4.3. Timer: Select one of the existing timers from the pick list.
            3.4.4. Application: Select one from the list.
4. Tap Delete... to delete the highlighted alarm.
5. Use Note line to enter the name of the alarm.

How to Customize Alarms
1. Select Main -> Alarms item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Tap the Time pick list to change ascending or descending sorting order.
3. Tap the name of the sorting to select the way of sorting from pick list.
4. Tap the All pick list to change the time interval for displayable alarms.
5. Tap Show Next Alarm Time to show or hide the time of the nearest alarm.
6. Tap Show Repeat Info to show or hide the repeat info.

Timers
1. Select Main -> Timers item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. The Timers view is similar to Alarms. See Chapter Alarms for more info.
3. When setting a timer tap the entry box Recurring to loop the timer.

Note: Tap the digits for easy start of an untitled Timer (enter the Timer Interval only!).

How to Customize Timer
1. Select Options -> Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu then tap Timers.
2. Tap the color entry box Digits to change the color of the digits.
     2.1. See Chapter How to Change Colors step#4 for more info about color changing.
3. Select the desired font from the pick list Font.
4. Select the desired action from the pick list Hardware Buttons to assign it to a hardware button.

Stopwatch
1. Select Main -> Stopwatch item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Use a check box Auto-off to prevent the Palm from shutting down (be sure to switch this function again when you are through with the stopwatch).
3. Tap the pick list in the upper-right corner and select Single or All to to switch between single or multistopwatch.
     3.1. Use the push buttons 1-10 to switch between stopwatches. (for the single
    stopwatch mode).
     3.2. Tap Stopwatch# entry box to change the name of the stopwatch.
     3.3. Tap Start/Stop (ST) to run or stop the stopwatch.
     3.4. Tap Reset/Split (Sp/R) to reset the stopwatch or to get intermediate result
    without stopwatch stopping.
     3.5. Tap Reset All to reset all stopwatches to zero (for the single stopwatch mode).
     3.6. Tap Start All to start all stopwatches simultaneously (for the single stopwatch
    mode).

World Time
1. Select Main -> World Time item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Tap check boxes next to the desired cities to show them on the map.
3. Tap an entry box with the name of a city to select a new one.
     3.1. See Chapter How to Edit a City steps#2-5 for more info about city changing.
     3.2. Tap the map to switch to World Map Mode.

Note: Time displaying format is defined by your handheld settings. To change the time displaying format exit PalmaryClock and launch Prefs application.

World Map
1. Select Main -> World Map item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Tap first icon to drag and drop the map with the stylus.
3. Tap second icon and then tap the screen to find the nearest city.
4. Tap third icon and then tap the screen to zoom in. Magnification factor depends on the map.
5. Tap fourth icon and then tap the screen to zoom out. Magnification factor depends on the map.
6. Tap fifth icon to fit the size of the map to the screen.
7. Tap sixth icon to show/hide the day and night areas on the map.
8. Tap seventh icon to select a city to be highlighted on the map. See Chapter How to Edit a City step#2-5 for more info.
9. Tap eighth icon to switch to World Map mode.

Note: The red points mark the cities selected at the World Time mode. See Chapter World Time step#2 for more info.

How to Change World Map
1. Select World Map -> Choose World Map item from the PalmaryClock menu. (Be sure that the program is running in the World Time Mode or World Map Mode).
2. Select the desired map location (handheld, extermal card) from the pick list.
3. Tap the field with the name of the desired map. Press Done.
     3.1. To Delete, Copy or Move the map highlight its name and press Details.

How to Customize World Map
1. Select Options -> Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. then tap World Map.
2. Tap the button with the name Map to Customize it.
     2.1. Tap the entry box Background to change the color of the background.
     2.2. Tap the entry box Overlay to change the color of the night area of the map.
     2.3. See Chapter How to Change Colors step#4 for more info about color changing.
     2.4. Select the desired night area Opacity level from the pick list
    Opacity. Set Opacity to None to make the night area invisible.
     2.5. Select the desired radius in miles or kilometers to the nearest city from the point
    you have touched with the stylus on the map from the pick list Finding Radius.
     2.6. Select the desired time interval of the night area position updates from the pick
     list Update Shadow.
3. Tap the button with the name Buttons to assign an action to the navigator.
     3.1. Select the desired action from the pick lists to assign to a button of the
    navigator.

Time Utilities
1. Select Main -> Time Utilities item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Select the desired utility from the pick list in the top-right corner of the screen.
     2.1. Sunrise:
             2.1.1. Tap entry box Date to change the date.
             2.1.2. Select Select City... or Manually from the pick list Set Location.
             a) If you select Select City... then choose desired city in Select City window. See Chapter
              How to Edit a City steps#2-5 for more info.
             b) If you select Manual then you will have to enter GMT Offset and geographical
              coordinates manually. See Chapter How to Edit a City step# 6 for more info.
     2.2. Internet Time:
             2.2.1. Tap entry box City to change a city.
             2.2.2. See Chapter How to Edit a City steps#2-5 for more info about city changing.
             2.2.3. Tap entry box Standart Time or Internet Time to enter the desired value to convert.
     2.3. Time Calc:
             2.3.1. Tap entry box When it is to enter the desired time.
             2.3.2. Tap the first entry box in to choose the source city. See Chapter
             How to Edit a City steps#2-5 for more info.
             2.3.3. Tap the other entry boxes in to change the destination cities. See
             Chapter How to Edit a City steps#2-5 for more info.

Note: Time displaying format is defined by your handheld settings. To change the time displaying format exit PalmaryClock and launch Prefs application.

Moon Phases
1. Select Main -> Moon Phases item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Use left and right arrows to scroll to the time you want. See Chapter How to Customize Moon Phases step#4 for more info.
     2.1. You may use entry boxes to set the desired date and time.
3. Tap Local Time to return to the current time.

How to Customize Moon Phases
1. Select Options -> Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu. then tap Moon Phases.
2. Select your hemisphere location (Northern or Southern) from the pick list Hemisphere.
     2.1. Tap the entry box Background to change the color of the background.
     2.2. Tap the entry box Labels to change the color of the titles.
     2.3. Tap the entry box Values to change the color of the values.
     2.4. See Chapter How to Change Colors step#4 for more info about color changing.
3. Select the desired moon shadow opacity from the pick list Darkness.
4. Select the desired time interval for the scroll arrows from the pick list Time Increment.

Application Preferences
1. Select Options -> Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu ithen tap Application.
2. Select the desired View to start with (the last used view or any of your choice) from the pick list View.
3. Tap a check box In cradle to start PalmaryClock automatically each time inserted into cradle.
4. Tap a check box After HotSync to start PalmaryClock automatically each time after performing HotSync operation.
5. Tap a check box When Power Off to select a hardware button from the pick list to automatically start PalmaryClock with.
6. You may select the desired hardware buttons to change Views from the pick lists Cycle Views: Next and Previous.

Predefined Sound Settings For Alarms and Timers
1. Select Options -> Preferences item from the PalmaryClock menu then tap Sound to customize the predefined sound and special
     effects for new alarms and timers. (The program does not change any of the system settings).
2. Select the desired volume of sound from the pick list Volume.
3. Select the desired way of notification level from the pick list Special effects.
4. Select the desired sound from the pick list Sound.
5. Select the desired reminder sound from the pick list Reminder Sound.
    Reminder sound will played if Repeat Alert is not "None". I.e. first time will played sound which is selected in
    Sound pick list and all next times will played sound which is selected in reminder Sound pick list.
6. Select the desired number of sound repeats from the pick list Play Sound.
7. Select the desired time between the sound repetitions from the pick list Every.
8. Select the desired number of alert repeats from the pick list Repeat Alert. Alert will repeated by sound which is
    selected in Reminder Sound pick list.
9. Select the desired time between the alert repetitions from the pick list Every.

Note: Now You may place your audio files and play them from any folder you want.

How to Set Chime
1. Select Options -> Chime item from the PalmaryClock menu to switch a chime and customize its settings.
2. Use a check box Chime to switch it on.
3. Select the desired time interval of repeats from the pick list Every.
4. Tap the push buttons On to mark the desired week days.
5. Tap the entry boxes From and To to set the beginning and the end of the time interval.
6. Tap Sound Setup to customize sound and special effects. See Chapter Predefined Sound Settings for more info about sound setup.

How to Set Battery Check
1. Select Options -> Battery Check item from the PalmaryClock menu to customize its settings.
2. Use a check box Enable Battery Check to switch it on.
3. Tap the entry box From to fix the start time.
4. Use the pick list Within to set the duration of the check.
5. Tap the push buttons On to mark the desired week days.
6. Use Warn if Battery lower line to enter the flat battery threshold.
6. Use Note line to enter the description of the alarm.
7. Tap Sound to customize the sound and special effects. See Chapter Predefined Sound Settings for more info about sound setup.

How to Edit a City
1. Select Options -> Edit Cities item from the PalmaryClock menu.
2. Select the desired country from the pick list.
3. Tap the column heading to change ascending or descending sorting order.
4. Tap and drag divider to resize columns.
5. Use Look Up line to enter a few first letters of the city you are looking for.
6. Tap the city to edit it.
     6.1. Use the entry box Name to edit the name of the city.
     6.2. Tap the entry boxes GMT Offset and use the arrows to edit the difference to
    Greenwich Mean Time.
     6.3. Tap a check box DST Enabled to customize Daylight Saving Time settings.
     6.4. Use the push buttons Daylight Bias to fix the DST offset.
     6.5. Use the entry box Location to set the exact geographical location. It is
    necessary to the geographical location as this information is used by the Sunrise View
    and the World Map View.

Note: To enter a new city simply hightlight the nearest city (to edit it) and tap New.
Note: Tapping Reset returns the cities list to the default database. All the changes you have made will be cancelled. All the cities you have added will be deleted!
