Instructions

TechSounds Converter for Windows or Mac OS X

TechSounds Converter is a desktop application to convert almost any sound or music file to a TechSounds PRC file. (Accepts MP3, WAV, AIFF, AU, M4A, MOV and more.)
Since TechSounds comes pre-loaded with sound effects, using TechSounds Converter is not a requirement of using TechSounds.
  1. Launch the program and choose a sound file.
  2. If you wish, choose a start and stop time.
  3. Save as a TechSounds file.
  4. Install the file as you would a normal Palm PRC file. The sound will show up in the TechSounds Sound Database.

Installing TechSounds 5 for Palm OS

  1. If a previous version of TechSounds is installed, deactivate and delete it.
  2. Install TechSounds5Demo.PRC as you would a normal PRC file.
  3. Choose the TechSounds icon from the Palm main menu.
  4. If you have sound sets and/or a TechSounds sound database installed already, you may choose to replace these files or or keep your current databases.
  5. Choose to activate TechSounds. Activation will require a soft-reset.

The Main Screen

  1. Master Volume: Adjust the volume for all TechSounds except the phone ring. (Adjust the phone ring volume using the Treo side buttons.)
  2. Mute: Mute TechSounds by quickly dragging your stylus down the screen from the very top to the very bottom. Repeat the same action to unmute. An indicator will show up briefly, displaying either "Mute On" or "Mute Off".
  3. Sound Set: Choose from your list of sounds sets. There are 3 sound sets pre-installed.

Edit Sound Sets

  1. Choose a sound set that you wish to edit.
  2. The currently active sound set will be displayed in bold.
  3. To edit sound assignments, select a sound set and tap "Edit".
  4. To share or backup a sound set, select "Share/Backup". This will create a TechSounds SoundPack PRC which can be backed up or shared.
  5. Rename or delete a sound set using the respective buttons.

Editing A Sound Set

  1. The screen title will display the name of the sound set that you are editing. With the exception of pen tap sound effects, the sound set will temporarily become active.
  2. Assign sound effects to the listed actions by choosing from the pick-lists.
  3. Set individual volume controls using the gray controls to the left of each action.
  4. Choose "OK" to save changes. Choose "Save As" to save your changes as a new sound set, leaving the original sound set unchanged.
  5. Choose "Add From Card" from one of the action pick-lists to add WAV files or TechSounds from an expansion card.

The Sound Databases

  1. The "Sound Database" screen allows for managing and browsing your sound database.
  2. Choose to play sounds, get sound file info, rename, delete, beam or send sounds via Bluetooth, SMS or email.
  3. Renaming sounds will not interfere with their assignment in sound sets.
  4. Choose "Add" to add WAV files or TechSounds sound files from an expansion card.
