Although every care has been taken to make Crash Imager as bug free and useful as possible, the author rejects any responsibility and cannot be made liable for any damage, including loss of time, money or data that results from the use (or non-usability) of Crash Imager.
Crash Imager makes use of a powerful graphics library called paintlib, which is copyright (c) 1996-2000 Ulrich von Zadow. paintlib itself uses other libraries. For more information on that, please run Crash Imager, right-click on its window and choose "About...".
To "install" Crash Imager, just unzip the archive into a directory of your choice and run crashimg.exe.
Crash Imager uses Window's registry to store recently used file names and other settings. Therefore deleting crashimg.exe will not completely uninstall the application, as some settings in the registry still remain. But you can remove these by using the command "Delete Settings" as follows.
With any third party image processing software, create an image that is either 160 pixels wide and 110 pixels high (for low resolution) or 320 pixels wide and 220 pixels high (for high resolution). Use this image as input for Crash Imager. Crash Imager will automatically resize, if the source image does not have the format mentioned above, and reduce the color depth if needed. For the latter you have two alternatives, the "Dithering" and the "Raw" method. The following example shows the difference:
