Download your software
You will receive an email with instructions on how to download your software. You do not need a registration code. All of your software has free updates for life. ZLauncher is required to use this product. For information on how to buy or update ZLauncher visit www.zztechs.com.

Install your ZLauncher Product
You can install your Chameleon Company ZLauncher product by unzipping or unstuffing it and installing them to your handheld through syncing through your Palm Hotsync software. You can also install them directly to a memory card. The ZLauncher files are located on the memory card in the following directory: PALM/Programs/ZLauncher. You will see 3 directories within this ZLauncher directory. These are: BackImage, Iconset and Theme. Put the ZLauncher backgrounds into the BackImage folder. Put the ZLauncher Skins into the Theme folder. Put the Icon sets into the IconSet folder.

Use your ZLauncher Product
You can use ZLauncher Skins, Backgrounds and Iconsets from one easy location within ZLauncher called the Theme Manager. This option can be found in the App menu which is located in the upper left corner of the screen. Once your skin, iconset, or backimage is installed you will see it in the Theme Manager. You use this product by clicking on it. You can sometimes preview it. To use it click on select and close the Theme Manager.

Update your ZLauncher Product
ZLauncher products are sometimes updated to include new features or improved graphics. Please look at the version number of the Chameleon Company product to see if there is a new update. If there is, just download and install it following the directions listed above. The new files will replace the old files.

Multiple Theme Versions A + B + C
Each Chameleon Company ZLauncher Skin includes 3 separate ZLauncher Themes. These themes are named Version A, Version B, and Version C. You may want to try all of them and choose your favorite. The image below shows First Skin Version A, Version B and Version C as an example.

Tab Specific Backgrounds (available in any Organize Software ZLauncher Skin)
ZLauncher has the ability to use different backgrounds for different tabs. Tab Specific Backgrounds can help the ZLauncher user by giving them visual cues for which tab they are currently in. As an example, you can use a ZLauncher background with a "001" on it to represent your most used tab, a background marked with a "002" for the second most used tab, and numbers "003-010" for other tabs. You can customize the Tab Specific Backgrounds in any way you choose. Since the image is the same for all of the Tab Specific Backgrounds, you can keep the look of your handheld the same, with only one small section of the image changing from tab to tab. The image below shows an example of Tab Specific Backgrounds. This image is from the HeavyAssault Skin but all other ZLauncher skins made by Organize Software have similar custom Tab Specific Backgrounds made in different styles.

Keep Multiple Skins on your Memory Card
A ZLauncher Skin is kind of like a set of clothes. When you get tired of one, just change to another. You can keep multiple skins saved to your memory card and change them quickly and easily.

Skin Types
You may wish to read the "read me" file if you are uncertain which skin file to install. There are many different versions of the PalmOS and of ZLauncher and some skins are compatible with some versions but not others. You can usually tell by the file name:

ZLT_full or trial_OS5_64K.prc - Theme designed for OS5 Hires Devices (320x320 or 320x480 resolution)

ZLT_full or trial_SonyHR_64K.prc - Theme designed for Sony HiRes & Hires+ Devices (320x320 & 320x480)

Customize Your Tab Icons
Tab Properties is another very useful feature in ZLauncher. You can find the Tab Proerties in the Tab menu on the top of the main screen. When you open Tab Properties, you will see four options: General, Icon, Color, and Advanced. You can assign custom icons to any tab on this first page under General. At the top of the screen is a list of the tabs with the current icon on the far left. To change the icon just highlight it in the grid of icons at the center of the screen.

File Names and Screen Sizes
ZLauncher backgrounds are made to work with different screen sizes. Most screens are 320 Wide by 320 High pixels in size. A few use a bigger screen. These are 320 Wide by 480 High. You usually can tell by looking at the screen. A square screen will be 320x320 and a taller longer screen will be 320x480. Also, most PalmOS machines with a 320x480 screen will support both portrait and landscape modes. Landscape mode is 480 wide by 320 high. The ZLauncher backround file names also come in 3 different sizes.

It is recommended that any handheld that has both portrait and landscape capabilities use a 480x480 size Background.

Different Backgrounds for Different Tabs
One nice feature in ZLauncher is the ability to use different backgrounds for different tabs or to use one backgrounds for all tabs. To use a background with one tab select the background in Theme Manager and choose the tab in the Set Background window that comes up automatically. To set the background for all tabs, choose the "-Set to all Tabs-" option at the bottom of the list in this same window. A useful tip is to try using multiple backgrounds and assigning a different one to each tab. This helps you better organize your tabs visually.
