Basic Game Rules

In rubies you control a ball that is constantly going up and down by making it go left and right on the playfield. The object of the game is to clear all the Rubies from the playfield. To do so you must first clear all the color bricks . (NOTE: Shape bricks are used in the Black and White version instead of colors.) To clear a color brick your ball must be the same color of the brick. If the ball is the same color as the brick when the brick is hit it will disappear. To change the color of the ball you must hit a color changer brick (B&W: ). Thou be careful, cause when a level starts out you are set the LIGHT-BLUE color (B&W: Solid white) and there is no changers for that color on the playfield. If you messed up and hit a color changer before removing all the LIGHT-BLUE bricks from the playfield you will need to restart the level (and lose a life). To restart the level hit the restart level button (PageUP is default, and can be changed in configuration screen).

The current brick color that can be removed is shown on the bottom right of the screen. Also if you are currently holding a key, it will be shown there.

On the playfield there are also SKULL blocks . These blocks should be avoided at all costs, cause if hit you will lose a life and need to restart the current level.

Once all your lives are gone, either by restarting levels or hitting skull blocks the game ends.

There are also locks and keys on some of the levels. You must collect a key (can only hold 1 key at a time) to open a lock.

And finally there is the changer brick , which when hit reverses your controls till another changer brick is hit.

Finish the levels fast, cause you get a time bonus for clearing the level in under a minute. Below the playfield is a horizontal line with the time bonus countdown. One the line reaches all the way to the left, you will not get a extra time bonus when you finish the level.
