PalmOS Emulation on webOS CONFIRMED: will be done by Motion Apps

Earlier today we broke the story that it appeared that PalmOS emulation would be possible on the webOS. Well, in conjunction with their other announcements this afternoon, Palm has confirmed on their blog that this will be the case.
% I( K9 f9 Z: q1 w8 H* P. zThe emulator, called "Classic," will be built by MotionApps, who have created great PalmOS apps like mVoice and mRign. Details on what the "PalmOS Emulator" weren't released, but there you go: it's coming and it's coming from a developer with a history of creating rich and powerful PalmOS apps. MotionApps wants "to help make the transition from Palm OS to webOS smooth and comfortable." : c4 I- i3 ?2 z6 L: n0 X" D1 v
We're happy to get smooth and comfortable, MotionApps, so kudos to you. Palm, have you considered "fast and soon" for that transition? We're kinda, you know, waiting for the Pre to get released here.
7 \8 ^/ h, Y) t" g( F1 J1 \7 q. ROne last note: you will be able to use some PalmOS apps, but likely not all of them, as Engadget notes:% h; N }! }5 e0 T$ I# P
[you] "won't be able to leverage core webOS functionality," meaning that you probably can't expect pure bliss across all of your applications, particularly those with roots that go deeper into phone databases and the like. 9 d, I- u; f, g* V
Also notable (but not surprising) - Classic goes deeper than your standard webOS widget as far as access to the OS goes.: |- A: T7 N1 _) U( c. z F

At the 9:25 minute mark is where you'll see Dieter attempt to touch the "Classic" icon, and asks what that is, and the guy tells him that they'll talk about that later. ;-)7 K% { L, r+ X# S
Update 2: the Emulator will be supplied by MotionApps.+ u% X/ W5 }4 o' E! ?, z
I just finished getting a great Palm Pre app walkthrough from Palm (video coming soon!), but this couldn't wait for the upload to finish. There was one app that Palm didn't want to talk about (but we suspect will be revealed tonight) the "Classic" icon you see above with a logo of a Palm device and a decidedly "Mac OS 9 Classic" feel to it.
, D3 U9 b5 J6 n3 q, DDon't blink: Palm looks as though they are going to support PalmOS apps on the Pre and webOS via some sort of emulation app!
' {7 q! y* ?6 j: r, U* ASince the day that Palm announced their new webOS, Palm loyalists have been hoping that the new platform would somehow support Palm OS emulation so that all our Palm OS apps would be compatible on the Pre and future Palm webOS devices. The Pre's app library just got a lot bigger., z t1 R; Q6 N/ f
