The new concepts theyintroduce—gestures under the screen, cards to represent running apps,searching for contacts and apps from the main screen—are all intuitiveand easy to pick up. The look of the UI is also soothing, with largishicons and largish text, fluid animations and rounded corners. It'sdefinitely a "web" OS in that it takes a lot of cues from web designpatterns and motifs.

4 b' C8 B' K) m4 O; p0 _ W2) The Pre is a fantastic size and shape and feels natural in both your pocket or your hand. The rounded pebble shape is pleasurable, and the weight is solid without being weighty. That said...

^' n$ s5 A" B3) When you open up the phone, the story changes dramatically. The edges are too sharp—sharp enough to cut cheese—andthe keyboard is tiny and difficult to type on. If Palm had includediPhone/Android-level word correction, basically a system that wouldbasically fix misspellings for you to correct for inaccurate typing,this wouldn't be a problem.

+ R! b# ~; a8 A4)Multitasking is handled elegantly. Palm's webOS introduces the conceptof "cards" as apps, where you can shuffle them around, scroll throughyour deck and deal them off your phone to close them. It's great mostof the time to be able to swap between emailing and texting and YouTubeand your browser without having to close out and lose your spot in eachapp. Unfortunately, multitasking works the same as it does in your PCin that you have a limited amount of system resources to go around, andusing heavy apps will mean you can't do much else without a significantslowdown—like having your music stutter.

Unlike theiPhone, where there's basically only one phone with the iPhone OS everyyear, Palm's planning on releasing different phones in different formfactors all running the same OS. There's already been one leaked: theCentro-like Palm Eos that's heading to AT&T.& {% C2 l' \2 r9 `5 f+ C Z

6) It works with iTunes. Palm went to the trouble of making the Prepretend to be an iPod when synced to iTunes, allowing you to transferyour music and video and photos without a problem. Playlists make itover just fine, but song ratings and play counts aren't supported onthe Pre. And your DRM'ed iTunes songs won't make it over either, butyour MP3 and DRM-free ones will.( _) N& i" z$ [+ }7 }0 }

7) Facebook and Google sync well. Not only does it have push Gmail,there's something called Synergy that grabs your Facebook and Googlecontacts and merges them together on your phone. You may not want ALLyour Facebook contacts or everyone you've ever emailed from your Gmailaccount to be on your phone, but it's all or nothing at this point.' o1 k0 B1 c2 b2 S4 L3 B |( h

9) The screen and multitouch are both high quality. Like I said in the review, the screen is crisp and sharp and clear, and the multitouch seems to track slightly better and quicker than the iPhone.+ T" j' n3 j- V9 @1 {; c, {
6 t) [/ @* @( s# L2 c, F7 G10) The app catalog is tiny now, but will most likely grow quitefast since the phone is slightly more consumery than Android phones(Android is a little more hardcore-based than this). : T8 n- N6 h7 ^5 _) ?( c$ a11) BONUS! The Touchstone charger charges reallyslowly. If you're looking to charge in a hurry, plug the microUSBcharger directly into the Pre. But if you're just docking it at workand want to keep the screen on standby so you can see emails and textscome in, the Touchstone is a decent solution. It does, however, makeyour phone quite hot.

4）多任务处理相当完美。Palm的webOS带来了把“卡片”当做程序的理念，用户可以在上面随便移动、自由关闭它们。用户也可以不用关闭就自由切换邮件程序、文本、YouTube、浏览器等。不幸的是，webOS的多任务功能和PC上的一样，有很多系统资源限制。当用户使用大型程序并进行很多操作的时候，系统明显就会变慢，比如音乐播放的时候会磕磕巴巴。

5）webOS兼容很多硬件，不像iPhone，每年只有一台机子可以使用iPhone OS。Palm计划在不同的机子上使用相同的操作系统，而且已经泄露了一台叫做Palm EOS的机子，它是为AT&T定制的，外观和Centro差不多。
