移动用户需要的是可以放在口袋里的小东西..不是象Foleo这么大,必须用单独的皮包装着但是功能非常有限的东西...所以Foleo这种产品仅仅会有非常小的应用需求..

(我个人奇怪的是:Jeff在5年前的idea,随着移动产品飞速的发展,需求和应用已经跨跃了好几代,但他们的基本设计仍然停留在5年前的层面上么?)

                        Gartner's PDA/Smartphone sector analyst Todd Kort has posted a dismal assessment of the Palm Foleo.Kort says the Foleo fails to adequately address mobile user needs, andbelieves it offers too little functionality to justify the burden ofcarrying around another device.

In an era in which increasing functionality is converging intoever-smaller devices, Palm has decided to buck the trend. The Foleo istoo large for many smartphone users to consider carrying around as alimited-function accessory that requires a separate carrying case.Gartner believes that this unwieldiness will severely limit Foleoadoption by smartphone users, who place a premium on "pocketability"and attractive design.

                        
+ a7 ~' ?) y1 B4 s' rKort'sanalysis goes on to state the Foleo will compete with notebooks becauseof its size, regardless of how Palm tries to market the device. He seesa market for this type of device but thinks the Foleo's limitedfunctionality and unpocketable size won't be compelling enough tocompete with larger, heavier and more expensive traditional laptops.
Kort also goes on record saying Linux developers would rally behindit... if only it had a faster processor, more memory and a largerbattery. "Few software developers are likely to write for this deviceuntil there is a sizable installed base, but the installed base isunlikely to become sizable unless the Foleo provides more functionalityout of the box (such as a personal information manager suite, VoIP,instant messaging and cellular communications via a Bluetoothheadset)."

對於程式開發，他可看漏了一點，就是web application。再說商用架構，根本不會去開發專用程式，都是web base為主。如果Foleo的連接性及web 兼容性夠好，根本不用特別為它開發什麼軟件了，上網就成了。這才是真正的大趨勢。

主要問題還是訂價太高了，US$200才會有吸引力。

其实按道理来说是Web Base的应该没有问题．

2 y4 L) [* ]2 _& t" C- n但是实际上有两个问题:
7 U+ G+ A. Z% Q% T% n" V1.目前的INTERNET的速度还不是足够到这种程度.即使是办公室里用专门的宽带,来处理WEB BASE的很多任务的时候也是慢得很..那个等待时间要比开关机的等待更让人难以忍受..
& ^$ Y/ Y8 ]& C# q4 {5 b  更不要说是用移动网络(目前已经应用的最快的电话网络也不能与宽带相比,差得很多呢)..而且还存在一个更要命的电话到FOLEO的蓝牙连接.

$ X/ L/ y! c0 c1 B9 a; E4 v这样一来等于JEFF在等待方面是相当矛盾的.为了减少开关机的等待时间才换FOLEO,但是开了机后死等实际上更让人不爽.

2.浏览器用的是OPERA..不是IE..目前很多WEB BASE的商务应用为了保证兼容性,在IE下的效果才是最好的,在其他的浏览器下甚至会无法使用(我们目前的REMOTEOFFICE就是这样的)
