其实这样的一家企业根本没有足够的力量再折腾这么一次的.但是当时的PALM根本听不进大家的意见...0 e/ b1 [, i+ y8 Q4 Y+ `

It has a modern flexible UI, instant performance,andan incredibly simple and elegant development environment. 3 m3 @% y8 I5 J; a# u8 zIn the course of the past several months, it has become clear that the right path for Palmisto offer a single, consistent user experience around this newplatformdesign and a single focus for our platform developmentefforts. To thatend, and after careful deliberation, I have decided tocancel the Foleo mobile companion product in its current configurationandfocus all of our energies on delivering our next generationplatform andthe first smartphones that will bring this platform tomarket. We will,of course, continue to develop products in partnershipwith Microsoft onthe Windows Mobile platform, but from our internalplatform developmentperspective, we will focus on only one.

Our ownevaluation and early marketfeedback were telling us that we still havea number of improvements tomake Foleo a world-class product, and wecan not afford to make thoseimprovements on a platform that is notcentral to our core focus. Thatwould not be right for our customers orfor our developer community.

When we do Foleo II it will be based onour newplatform, and we think it will deliver on the promise of thisnewcategory. Iwould like to thank our customers for their interest in Foleo. Iknowthere will be disappointed folks who were looking forward tocarrying aFoleo for all their mobile computing needs. I am certainlyone of them.I would also like to thank the developers who havesupported our Foleoefforts. They have been loyal to Palm and haveworked hard to deliversome compelling solutions on the Foleo platform.I know that they willunderstand that the right thing to do for thelong run is to focus onone platform that will live for years, ratherthan invest energy in aone-off solution. We will make every effort tomake sure we bring ourdevelopers forward to our next generationplatform.9 [$ q* p: D4 s% n
This decisionwill require us to take a limited charge of less than$10 milliondollars to our earnings. This is a lot of money, but it isa small pricerelative to the costs that would be required to supporttwo platformsgoing forward. This decision is in the best interest ofour customers,our team, our products and our shareholders. I hope thisrenewed focusat Palm will allow us to deliver more compellingsolutions to our coresmartphone market, and it will allow us toposition ourselves for thelong run around one Palm experience.
