iNdependenceis a Cocoa-based application for Mac OS X which provides an easy-to-useinterface for jailbreak, activation, SSH installation, andringtone/wallpaper/application installation on your iPhone. It's opensource under the GNU v2 license.
The source code forinteracting with the iPhone has been broken out into a library(libPhoneInteraction) so that it can be easily reused by otherapplications.

Oct. 12/07 - I'm in the process ofadding the 1.1.1 jailbreak method to iNdependence right now. I shouldhave a new version out in a few days. Stay tuned...
Sept. 30/07 - If you have updated your phone to firmware 1.1.1 and want to downgrade it, hereare instructions on how to do that. Note that you don't need to decryptyour firmware. I think he meant "unzip" instead of "decrypt".
Sept. 27/07 - Do not update your phone to firmware 1.1.1 until you hear otherwise.
Sept.13/07 - Just released version 1.2.1a (Aventinus). This new versionincludes the YouTube fix when activating (YouTube will now work afteractivation). There are also a number of bugfixes related to applicationinstallation (should work well now). Please see the CHANGELOG for moredetails.

Q: If my phone is already activated (but YouTube doesn't work), how do I get the YouTube fix?
) Y$ l% L6 l/ G. T7 B4 l  _A: Deactivate your phone with the current version of iNdependence, then activate it again.
Ifdeactivation doesn't work, then it's likely that your phone is usingthe lockdownd hack which makes it "factory activated" (activation worksfor multiple SIM cards). iNdependence cannot deactivate a phone whichhas this type of activation. You'll need to either restore yourfirmware, or replace /usr/lib/lockdownd on your phone with the stockversion that comes with your firmware.
