From what I understand, the cards will work much slower if you format them on your Treo.2 r( \) }5 X+ H u3 V% q
You can use one of the following methods to format a card on XP so that the Treo can read it - and it should be fast....

& p: n* ]+ A5 a" J/ s5 B- xformat X: /FS:FAT32 /A:16K
1 `4 x8 m" D* X' Q(or maybe format X: /FS:FAT32 /A:32K)

"Go to "Control Panel" then select "Computer Management."- M( m) U$ X" S
Under "Storage", select "Disk Management" and when that reads and pops up, select the volume attributable to your card (on my PC, it's "N:" because I have a whole bunch of USB removable drives, but it may be a different letter on your PC), then right click. {9 d* q% M: l% N* ?
Select "Format" after you right click, then select FAT32 under "File system" and 32K under "Allocation unit size".
* p9 p9 l+ d9 j2 fMake sure you check the box for "Perform a quick format" because I've heard that for some reason data corrupts on the card if you don't. 9 H) @: b: n/ a4 d9 I+ o
Then click OK and you're good to go.
( Y) B7 Z9 x) D- d+ XIt should take only a few seconds, certainly not more than a minute, to format. If it takes more than a few minutes, then you probably have a defective card."
' B! [+ n' Q, G- A/ wI've seen advice that recommends an allocation unit size of 16kb and 32kb. I don't know for sure which is best, but the card speed testing software seems to slightly favour 32kb. |
