I upgraded to Documents To Go version 7 or 8 and I receive an error that "Documents To Go has detected that a previous versions of Documents To Go is installed".

  w+ q' F* c: H/ a* u1. Click on DataVizTech, and save the PRC file to your desktop on your PC.

- C+ t! W3 R- F4 y& ~8 C" p9 o1 s2. Double click on the PRC, which is now on your desktop.  It will go into Palm's Quick Install, and be queued for the next HotSync

4. On the handheld, open the application DataVizTech.

3 p' D/ ]1 n! T5. Click on the "Uninstall Documents To Go" button, and confirm deletion.

. O: u: R+ `5 t  u! {6. On the desktop computer: Click on the Hotsync Manager icon at the bottom right of the PC by your clock and go to Custom.

7. Scroll to the bottom of the list and make sure your Backup conduit (or it may be called System) is set to Handheld Overwrites Desktop. If it is not, click Change and set it to Handheld Overwrites Desktop. Then click the box for Set as Default and then click Ok.

8. Be sure that your device has at least 7 MB free to install all the components of Documents To Go to the device.

9. Open Documents To Go on the desktop computer. Click on the Tools Menu and select Re-Install Handheld Applications:

Click Ok, then click Ok again.

7 C. L2 M- t5 n; `10. On the handheld, perform a Soft Reset:

Use the reset tip tool (see below), or the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar object without a sharp tip), to gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
A soft reset tells your handheld to stop what it's doing and start over again. All records and entries stored in your handheld are retained with a soft reset. After a soft reset, the Welcome screen appears, followed by the General Preferences screen.

11. Verify that there are no left over Documents To Go components on the handheld or card:

2. Tap the Menu button (below the House icon).
3. Select Delete from the App menu.

5. Tap "Yes" when asked if you want to delete the application andall its data.

1. Tap on Handheld
2. Switch to Internal, or Card.
3. Delete the same PRC files listed above.

" O) N; x, b, ]/ H; J4 e12. Close Documents To Go on the desktop computer, put the Palm device in the cradle and synchronize the device. This should correct this issue.

1. Browse your computer to find Palm Instapp.exe. Your Palm folder can be found at one of the following locations depending on your handheld model:

2. Double Click on the program "Instapp.exe" (It is a picture of a generic palm with a green screen and a red arrow)

) O& m( K7 h9 D; o  ]3. Choose the appropriate user name from the drop down menu at the top of the screen

4. Select each file, and then click the "Remove" button on the right hand side of the screen

A good shortcut to delete all these files would be as follows:

- Q9 W; g8 r4 w# y- I+ r6 g5 R" TClick on the first PRC (example: DGraphConverter.prc)
Hold down the Shift Key
; [9 c5 r* n+ `% GClick on the last PRC (example: WTGFontPackage.pdb)
This should highlight all files.
) l- i  {) x% V" wClick the "Remove" button
5. From here, you can reopen Documents to Go on the desktop, and Reinstall Handheld Applications again.

% V( y4 W6 C. F. |****Please note: If you are using a laptop computer with a docking station (or network synching with a wireless device), please remove the laptop from the dock, plug your sync cable directly into the laptop, and try to reinstall the handheld applications.
