despite my initial negative answer, we finally went for the PNG

the app size. (403K instead of 373K.) Will be corrected in the final

% [* A0 ^5 |' V$ C7 f# D: h! Z6 LWe stripped off anything that was not deemed necessary, so that the
8 {8 T) f  Y. R* ]5 K7 Yfootprint is minimal. (I would not believe that it can be made under 30K -
with zlib included. Consider that the public PNG + ZLib sources have approx.
2 MB.) Should be also slightly faster than GRX implementation (some 20%).

Further special optimizations could be made if we saw an adequate reason. I
see these potential points:
- Thumbnail generation could be faster.
- Interlaced PNG images have also speed reserves.
- The colors appear to be a bit too dark.
